Heart Valve Voice US looks forward to working with Nakela Cook, MD, MPH, as she leads PCORI into its second decade of commitment to patient-centered health care
Washington, D.C. (January 16, 2020)–The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) has named Dr. Nakela Cook as the next Executive Director. Dr. Cook joins PCORI from her role as a Senior Scientific Officer and Chief of Staff for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI)
As the leader of an organization that works closely with PCORI, John Lewis, the Executive Director of Heart Valve Voice US, released the following statement on Dr. Cook’s appointment:
Heart Valve Voice US is thrilled to welcome Dr. Nakela Cook as the new Executive Director of PCORI. As a cardiologist with a commitment to patient-centered research, Dr. Cook brings a unique understanding of the needs of our patient community to this position. Her experience at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, success overseeing a complex organization, and overall knowledge of public health makes Dr. Cook eminently qualified for this role. We look forward to working with Dr. Cook and her team to raise awareness of heart valve disease, and to empower patients to participate in research in a meaningful way.
