Home Add Your Voice

Help us change the conversation about heart valve disease and work together to improve heart health. Heart Valve Voice US supports early detection, optimal treatment, and better health for the more than 11 million people living with heart valve disease in the US. Add your voice and together, we can make a difference.

Providing your email and permission allows us to share information about Heart Valve Voice activities. Sharing your zip code helps us to tailor information to your area.

Change is needed because

  • More than 11 million people in the US have heart valve disease. Many of them never experience symptoms.
  • Although men and women suffer equally from heart valve disease, women are less likely to be diagnosed and have lower survival rates.
  • Congenital heart defects, many affecting heart valves, are the most common types of birth defects in the US. Congenital heart defects are present in about 40,000 newborns each year.
  • In older patients, the symptoms of heart valve disease may be dismissed as a “normal part of aging.”

Under-diagnosis, low referral rates to specialists, and under-treatment are missed opportunities to save lives and improve health for people with heart valve disease.

To learn more about the challenges people with heart valve disease face, view our consensus policy statement.

I am interested in (please check all that apply):

All types of heart valve disease
    Aortic valve diseases
    Mitral or bicuspid valve diseases
    Pulmonary valve diseases
    Tricuspid valve disease
    Congenital valve diseases
    Information for family caregivers

I want to add my voice to Heart Valve Voice because...

    How It Works

We use your zip code as evidence of support for our efforts when speaking with Members of Congress and other policymakers.  The more people we can state have actively added their “voice” in support of addressing the under-diagnosis and under-treatment of heart valve disease, the more people will listen. The more we listen, the more lives we save!
