Heart Valve Voice – US Announces New Chairwoman of the Board

Washington, DC – Heart Valve Voice-US announced today that Teresa Wright-Johnson will assume the role of Chair of the Board of Directors.

As a congenital heart disease survivor and multiple sclerosis warrior, Teresa is passionate about advancing the mission of Heart Valve Voice US. Diversity, inclusion, and health equity are important to Teresa and her advocacy efforts solidify her commitment to amplifying the patient voice, especially those who are underrepresented and underserved. She also serves as a Board of Directors member for the Lehigh Valley American Heart Association chapter, as well as a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America African American Advisory Board member. Teresa is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

“I am honored to serve as Chairwoman of the Board for Heart Valve Voice-US”, says Teresa. “I truly believe in the organization’s work and all that we continue to accomplish. Health equity and amplifying the patient voice are cornerstones of my advocacy. Collectively, we are committed to improving the lives of those affected by heart valve disease”.

Executive Director of Heart Valve Voice-US, Karissa Charles, expressed her support for Teresa’s elevation to the role. “Teresa is perfectly suited for this opportunity; her connection with the valve disease community and passionate interest in health equity will support Heart Valve Voice-US’ goal to further connect with patients in underserved communities and raising awareness”, said Charles.

Under Teresa’s leadership, Heart Valve Voice-US will strive to continue to create improved futures for individuals with valve disease by encouraging patients to become informed advocates for their own heart health, providing access to comprehensive information, support networks and expert guidance.
